Events

For about 20 years I have been involved with the management of a music and performing arts event at an outdoor venue in the South East of England.

The event started as a one-off centenary event for the local council, it attracted an audience of approximately 7000 – 8000 people for a weekend event. By popular public demand it became a regular annual event, growing each year in attendance and reputation, until in 1995 the event attracted the attention of the “Virgin Group” and in 1996, I was asked, along with 4 other production managers to move over from the council event and produce a world class music festival for Virgin.

Because of our experience with the earlier event and our knowledge of the site it was felt that we would be the best people to manager this new venture for Virgin. The festival, known as “The V Festival” now attracts more than 70,000 people on 2 sites and sells out only hours after tickets go on sale.  Each year the festival grows bigger, and since 2006 there are now similar “V” festivals held in America, Canada and Australia.
