A bit about me ...
During my 20 year career as a creative production manager I have worked on very diverse projects, in numerous countries around the world. I speak French fluently and can get by in German Italian and Spanish.
However I have discovered that no matter what language you speak a smile and some simple sketches in the dust or on the back of a napkin are usually all you need to communicate with anyone.
I enjoy the challenge of problem solving and many of the projects that I have been asked to manager are the result of either a seemingly irresolvable problem or one where a conventional approach has failed.
My work, as a sculptor during my Fine Arts Degree at Portsmouth University, was all about the dynamics of materials and structures; the work that I made was very large, weighed several tons and appeared to balance precariously, often looking as if about to topple over, and all conveying a sense of imminent motion.
The problems faced while trying to make these seemingly impossible structures balance both physically and aesthetically required an inventive and creative approach to what were very often more engineering challenges.
I believe that this time spent creatively solving conventional engineering problems has stood me in good stead for the problem solving that I have been called upon to do during my creative production management career.
Problem solving often requires a sideways approach!
My work can be most easily split up into 4 categories - events, exhibitions, projects and workshops. I have worked internationally in each of these areas, and to illustrate the scope of my work I will briefly describe some of the projects I have been involved with from each of these categories.
